Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is a guided process facilitated by the supervisor for the purpose of ensuring counselor skill development and quality patient/client care.

The Clinical Supervisor is ethically and legally responsible for the actions of the Supervisee. The structure for clinical supervision is typically one-to-one and/or small groups on a regular basis. The Certification Board recommends that supervision occur weekly and group supervision be in groups no larger than 6.  Methods for review should include case review and discussion, direct observation of a counselor’s clinical work or listening/viewing audio and/or video recordings.
