All certifications renew on a fixed 24-month schedule: January 31 of odd-numbered years. Counselors who are issued their initial certification in December of an even-numbered year will not be required to renew or pay the renewal fee. Their certification will be issued through the next full 2-year period. Counselors who are issued their initial certification at any other time will be required to renew by paying the renewal fee and submitting a pro-rated number of continuing education hours as above.
